If you look at the notes on @staff’s post about finally removing pornography from this website, there are a lot of very upset people complaining, making threats, and generally whining about the policy change.
On one hand, it is pretty funny to see the true impotence of the pro-pornography crowd on display as they wail in their death throes.
But, taking a second look, it is absolutely heartbreaking to see literally tens of thousands of people, real life human beings, foaming at the mouth and enraged to the point of making threats simply because there will be one less site on the internet peddling free pornography.
I am under no illusion that Staff’s decision is anything more than a business decision and that moral considerations were probably last among their reasons for doing this. But this is still a good moment for a teachable lesson on the (im)morality of pornography and how it warps the human mind, the human heart, and human desires.
Heaven have mercy on our souls and teach us to love each other more perfectly so that the evils of pornography will eventually become extinct. We were all made for so much more.
There’s nothing good about porn. Porn is a disease, it’s abusive and violent and degrading. Porn is evil, is appropriates improper sexual conduct, it advocates for sexual abuse and is harmful to those who participate and watch it. It creates a false standard of what sex should look like, which is purity and intimacy and a bond that only a married couple should be experiencing. It shames women and men into selling their bodies for money. It forces men and women to have high expectations for sex, and when those expectations aren’t met they abandon said person like they are an old piece of meat. It ruins the minds of innocent young ones, and grooms them to be sexual deviants. Porn is vile and toxic and I hope tumblr takes it serious and gets rid of it all. If your blog advocates any type of porn and toxic sexual content, I hope those blogs become private or deactivated and unable to be found.
